Every year when we go to France, we visit a friend who stays in
Menton (on the French/Italian border). It is about a two hour walk along
the boardwalk to Monte Carlo, but we've never managed to have the time
to do it.
Finally last year (October 2013) we decided to do this coastal walk. It was a rather grey day. The closer we got to Monaco, the darker the weather got until we spotted some lightning in the distance and vaguely heard some thunder. I wrote about this in detail in another blog called Ready or not here we come.
When we got to Monte Carlo, it was very windy and cold. After walking around we tried to get a table inside the Cafe de Paris but it was packed. No-one was sitting outside because of the weather. So we caught a bus back to Menton and had coffee in a bistro on the waterfront.
